What is a PBX?
PBX stands for a Private Branch Exchange, If you work or have worked in medium sized company the phones you have used will almost certainly be connected to a PBX. Instead of calls just going in and out a PBX has the ability to do much much more. Classically these include the following:
- Voicemail
- Receptionist functions (mostly phone related)
- Internal call routing
- Conference Calls
- Music on Hold
- Auto Attendant
The above are some of the more obvious functions for a PBX, as you have read in the services page, some of these functions are available under single accounts. However most are not.
What are the benefits of a VOIP PBX over a Proprietry PBX?
Leaving aside the obvious cost benefit of cheaper calls. Our VOIP PBX's are built in-house using PC components and opensource technologies, this makes our build cost relatively cheap. We can then pass that cost saving onto the customer.
Flexible customisable PBX functions. If a customer wanted to setup a 0870 number to be routed a specific phone, have a 0208 number routed to a automatic attendant, have voicemails emailed to them. Faxes received and converted to PDF then emailed to a specified address + much much more. Our PBX's are as flexible as your business needs.
No need for seperate voice line and data lines. VOIP PBX's use the same ethernet network your PC's use. meaning you no longer need to install ISDN lines for your voice calls. All calls will route via your Internet gateway.
What are the costs?
As with many items, costs vary depending on what you need, however we have put together a pbx with a variety of pre-built functions at a cost that is competetive.
