Telephony Service Control Panel

The telephony service control panel is accessed via https://service.interdart.net/telephony. You will need to log in using the service name and password you defined when the service was first created.

Telephony Panel Status

The first section of the control panel provides you with some basic information about your account, including your credit limit, and the current available funds. If the available funds are smaller than the credit limit, then you will be barred from making outgoing calls. You can purchase additional credit on-line by clicking on "Purchase Credits".

Selection Buttons

  • Configuration will display details of your Extensions and incoming numbers
  • User Summary will show a list of outgoing calls made this month from each of your extensions
  • Charge Detail will show a list of all chargeable calls made over the last three months
Configuration

The Configuration button provides you with forms to define and configure your Extensions,  Incoming Phone Numbers and additional numbers to be used as Caller ID for your outgoing calls.

Extensions
Extensions include the physical VoIP phones, software phones and virtual Extensions (such as Hunt Groups). Connection to physical phones or software phones is made using either the SIP or the IAX protocol.

Extensions screen capture

For each extension you can define a number of options including extension number, voicemail, call redirection and caller ID.

SIP Extension options

Extensions of type "Hunt" and "PSTN" have a special meaning.

PSTN extensions provide you with the option of directing both incoming and local calls to an external PSTN number. This number may be any geographic, non-gegraphic or Mobile number. Please note, you will be charged at the normal rate for the outgoing leg of such a redirected call.

Hunt extensions will ring up to four SIP (or IAX or PSTN) extensions simultaneously, and the first to answer gets the call.  This feature is particularly useful for multi-user home worker applications, or for homeworkers who are frequently out of the office and wish to receive their calls on a mobile phone.

Incoming Phone Numbers
The Incoming Phone Numbers section allows you to allocate and configure the public accessible non-geographic numbers your friends and colleagues will use to call you from any public phone.

To assign a new number, select the required area code, the options for free numbers are 0870, 0871 and 0845. We recommend you select an 0845 number, in which case your callers will be charged at BT Lo-Call rate (or equivalent for non BT subscribers). To assign a geographic number such as 0207 xxx xxxx please contact sales@interdart.co.uk. Geographic numbers are available for all UK area codes, however there is a fixed monthly service fee per number.

Assign new number

Once you have a number assigned you must set the status to Active. You can then direct incoming calls to one of the extensions as defined in the previous section.

Please note. if you set the status to ceased then the number will be returned to the pool and we will not be able to re-assign the same number.

Numbers used as outgoing callerid
You can request numbers assigned to you by BT or other telephone providers can be added to the system for use as your outgoing caller ID. External numbers available for use as caller ID will appear in the list below.

Other numbers used as caller ID

Your caller ID is passed to the Public network when you make an outgoing call and, when the called party has the service enabled, the number is displayed before the call is answered. The caller ID is also normally used by the called party's voicemail service to enable their callback service.
To request this service please email support@interdart.co.uk with details and evidence that the number has been assigned to you.
